10 Write

hello friend

I’m making a big push to do more with what I have which is thoughts and photos. For November I decided to join a handful of bloggers and blog every day of the month. If you’re interested here are some of the people who inspired me;

So far this month I’ve mainly focused on what life is like being autistic. I was diagnosed a few months before my 40th birth. I dislike cliches but life for me did seem to really start at 40. I’m blogging about what I’ve been feeling, thinking and doing this past year.

  1. A photographer sleeps with his camera – Why am I always carrying a camera?
  2. Think Different – Embracing being autistic.
  3. An autistic photographer – Looking back at my life and how autism got me here.
  4. Autism – Sensory issues: Noise – How noise affects me on a daily basis.
  5. Fear – Presented with a challenge during a commercial shoot what did I do?
  6. OCD or Autism? – Obsessing over negative thoughts backed by obsessive googling. What is that?
  7. Autism and gigs – I used to do music photography but now I’m just an audience member and it pushes me to overload.
  8. Phones – A simple thought on our perception of the modern world.

That’s a week done and I’ve loved it. It has been great to sit down each night with a blank page and pull something together. It’s not always easy and I’m not the best writer but I’m enjoying it. Hopefully this is the start of getting back into blogging. Something I’ve been trying to do for a very long time.

newsletter(01)

So why start a newsletter? It’s simple really. Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. This is me pulling together some things from the week and sending you them just in case you missed them. I hope to do more in the newsletter too. It won’t just be a list of blog posts I’ve written. I plan to include photos in here which you may not have seen before or at least not for a long time. This isn’t a digest of what I’ve instagrammed or blogged through the week. This is something different, something else.

10 Write
20 Publish
30 Breathe
40 Goto 10

It’s that easy. Every day. Write. Publish. Breathe. Repeat. It’s easy. I just need to tell myself that it’s important too. Is anyone reading? Who cares! Just write. Write for myself to be creative in a different way. Make the time and write something.

I’ll end on a musical note. C. Ha ha! No but really music. It’s so important to me. So far this past week I’ve sat down and wrote each blog post and this newsletter to the soundtrack of Mr. Robot, Vol 6 by Mac Quayle. Mr. Robot is possibly my favourite TV show currently airing. It’s about a hacker named Elliot and it’s incredible. The show discusses a lot and its portrayal of mental health issues in a socially isolated hacker are spot on. There’s also the idea that Elliot maybe autistic too so it’s really grabbing my attention.

The final season is on now on Amazon Prime. The writing, the acting, the cinematography and the music are all incredible. Oh the cinematography! Every episode is like a fine steak for me.

If you’re already a fan of the show here’s an interesting video discussing the framing used in it to highlight social anxiety.

Back to the music of the show and it’s just as good as the cinematography. Perfect music to write to as well. Vol 6 is 1 hour and 7 minutes long. I put that on and produce a blog post. Perfect. It’s available on Apple Music if you’d like to check it out. The track titles are brilliantly named too. I don’t think they’re spoilers but if you haven’t seen the show watch season 1 you need to see it.
